Just because a kid doesn’t say anything
Just because a kid doesn’t say anything doesn’t mean the vibe isn’t off.
Kids don’t always have the words. But they feel everything.
They feel when a room gets tense.
They feel when someone is irritated.
They feel when they’re tolerated instead of welcomed.
They feel when love has conditions attached.
And they don’t always cry about it.
Sometimes they just get quieter.
Clingier.
Sillier.
Meaner.
“Too sensitive.”
“Acting out.”
We call it behavior.
But a lot of the time?
It’s their nervous system talking.
They don’t need to understand the dynamic to absorb it.
They don’t need proof to feel a shift.
They don’t need to speak up to be affected.
If the vibe is off, they know.
That’s why protecting their peace isn’t dramatic.
That’s why boundaries aren’t rude.
That’s why “we’re not going” is sometimes the most loving sentence a parent can say.
Because just because they didn’t say anything…
Doesn’t mean they didn’t feel everything.
