As a mother

As a mother, I just feel like the safest place for my kids is with me.

There’s something about the way their little bodies melt into mine, the way their breathing slows when they know they’re home in my arms. It doesn’t matter what the world looks like outside these walls when they’re with me, I know they’re safe.

I can’t protect them from everything. I know they’ll face struggles I can’t fix and moments I can’t prevent. But I can be their soft landing. I can be the place where they never have to question if they’re loved, if they belong, if they’re seen.

Even when they’re grown, even when they don’t need me in the same way, I hope they’ll always know that no matter how far they go, they’ll always have a safe place to come back to.

Because being their mom means being their constant. And that will never change.
