Superman And The Mole Men (1951)


An Oil drilling operation reveals a humanoid species who live deep underground. When they emerge to the surface, the townsfolk are frightened and want to kill them. Only Superman can ease the tensions.
The first feature-length Superman movie. The late great George Reeves would later reprise his role for the TV Series that would follow.

Trivia:
The secret weapon used by the Mole men was a 1940s or 1950s vacuum cleaner with some piping attached.
Kirk Alyn, who played Superman in the old Serial shorts was offered to reprise his role, but he wanted more money than the executives of the day were willing to pay. Enter actor George Reeves, who would become famous (but not wealthy) in his own right for his performances as Superman.
