The Dukes of Hazzard

 The Dukes of Hazzard was a show about family, but it was also a show about friendship. In several episodes, we saw glimpses of the close friendship that once existed between Jesse Duke and Boss Hogg.

It was never explained on the show, but we can image that they grew apart in the past due to Boss's greed, and Jesse's disapproval of Boss's dishonest ways.

Boss Hogg's repeated schemes against the Dukes could have been motivated by a sense of revenge against his onetime friend, for some long-ago perceived offense. Or, perhaps it was sense of competition on Boss's part - a way to show he was the "better" man of the two, by having more money, more power, or whatever.

But when the chips were down, these two old ridgerunners stuck together. The truces between them never lasted long, but they knew how to come together when it mattered!

Maybe someday, we'll see a Dukes reboot that begins with their story.
