Pictured in this 1922 photo taken in Salzer Valley are Paul H. Petersen Sr. and his two sons. In the back is Walter and up front is Frederick, whose mother, Freda Petersen, is not pictured here. The Petersens immigrated to Salzer Valley in 1922 to the land pictured here. They owned a 40-acre piece of the valley and donated a segment on which Salzer Valley Community School was built. Paul wanted his children to be educated, which prompted the donation. Their land remained in the family until 2004 when it was finally sold.
