The Girl from Missouri
Lionel Barrymore and Jean Harlow 1934 "The Girl from Missouri", which went through a few title changes due to the Code including "Born to Be Kissed", "100% Pure", and "Eadie was a Lady" then settling on the banal "The Girl from Missouri" simply because Harlow was born in Kansas City Missouri. Franchot Tone tells Barrymore in the film that she is from Kansas. MGM executives were afraid of what to do with Harlow as she was a target of the Code, so they had her fighting Tone (as T.R Page Jr.) to not make her cheap and to marry her. Several costume changes were made to tone down the very look of her and Patsy Kelly as show girls and the outfit shown here from the released film differs from the one she wore in numerous publicity photos.
