Shipmates Forever
"Shipmates Forever" 1935 directed by Frank Borzage, written by Delmar Daves.
Dick Powell, Ruby Keeler, Ross Alexander, Eddie Acuff, Dick Foran.
Some people seem to think that Dick Powell was a dancer, but he was not ever featured dancing. I have seen 14 out of the 25 films he made at Warner Brothers between 1932 and 1936 and while Powell was shown singing with a leading or featured player, male dancers in similar attire with similar haircuts did the dancing with a bevy of female dancers. Powell may have been shown posed with someone like Toby Wing in a ballroom dancing position, but he was not shown dancing. Dick Powell was an excellent tenor with a great voice, and he was wonderful romantic leading man with looks, class, and charm. He simply was not a dancer.
