George Arliss and James Cagney in their only scene together, and, in fact, in Cagney's only scene in the film at all. As Schofield, an insurance agent, Cagney breezes into the film and promises Arliss's character that he will check on him again, but he never returns. This was his fifth film, and according to IMDB, it was the reason William Wellman gave him the part of Tom Powers and he switched Edward Woods to playing Matt Doyle having had them in each other's roles up to then. "The Millionaire" was released on May 1, 1931, while "The Public Enemy" was released on May 15, 1931. "The Millionaire" is well worth seeing for its own merits apart from seeing Cagney in an early film role. It is a very fine film.
