 unpopular opinion : i don’t like caroline

i’ve honestly felt this way about caroline since season one. she got a little more bearable after she turned into a vampire and i really mean a little. she’s the exact type of girl i avoid being friends with in real life. she comes off super insecure and lowkey jealous of her best friends, but suddenly super loyal when it comes to whatever guy she’s into. like when elena said she wanted to be the one to tell stefan she’d slept with damon, but caroline went and told him herself anyway. it felt obvious she did it because she was interested in him and basically threw her friend under the bus for a bit of attention.

she can be insensitive and self centered while still expecting everyone to treat her like she’s on a pedestal.

it’s always been weird to me how she ends up going after elena’s exes, matt and stefan, and it honestly feels intentional. it feels like she’s constantly competing with her, but she’s never the one they genuinely want. it’s obvious stefan would have taken elena back in a heartbeat, and matt clearly still had feelings too. both relationships felt forced and second choice.

i’ve never really understood the hype around her. she gives pick me energy and reminds me of those friendships where someone secretly envies you but smiles in your face. for the people who like her, do you actually find her relatable?
