and by the way this isn’t to defend any of caroline’s toxic behavior in season one, but I do think a lot of the fandom is so quick to jump at her and insult her when there was a clear difference in the way that elena and bonnie treated eachother vs how they treated caroline. caroline’s behavior didn’t come from her just being a natural born bitch, she created a mask to protect her from all of the insecurities she felt based on how everyone around her treated her (men, her parents, her friends, etc). I think it was really unfair of bonnie to just blurt out to Caroline that she was a witch and expect Caroline to just believe that. If my friend told me she was a witch, I’d probably laugh in her face… thinking that it was a joke. bonnie SHOWED elena that she was a witch because even at first elena didn’t believe it. so bonnie PROVED it to her yet she didn’t do that with caroline. this is not hate on bonnie btw, i just find this situation unfair to caroline because of course her response to bonnie saying she’s a witch wouldn’t be the same as if she visibly showed her like she did with elena. i know elena and bonnie seem to be much closer to eachother than they are to caroline in season one, but caroline clearly wanted to be included and wanted to be equal in the trio. i do feel sorry for season one caroline as she was experiencing her dad leaving, sexual abuse from damon, her mom’s neglect, and her friends leaving her out consistently.
