FRANCIS COVERS THE BIG TOWN

"FRANCIS COVERS THE BIG TOWN"  (1953)

MY THOUGHTS:
Long before I ever found out about "Mr. Ed," or watched that TV series, I watched movies with "Francis the Talking Mule." As a young girl, I fell for the bit hook, line and sinker. There were seven (7) movies made for this "franchise" and one was funnier than the one before it. I had wanted to watch the first film today, as it was the movie that started it all, but it wasn't available without paying to watch it (even though the other 6 movies were). So, I opted for this one, which was the 4th in the series, and it is a hoot! They are definitely movies that the family can watch together, and kids will love it!

SYNOPSIS:
"The talking mule's buddy becomes a star reporter, thanks to hot tips from New York police horses."

STARRING:
Donald O'Connor, Nancy Guild, Gene Lockhart, Yvette Duguay, William Harrigan, Larry Gates, Lowell Gilmore, Hanley Stafford and Francis the Mule (whose distinctive voice is a voice-over by actor Chill Wills).

SCREENPLAY:
Oscar Brodney (story & screenplay) and David Stern (characters)

DIRECTOR:
Arthur Lubin
