Little Annie Rooney

"Little Annie Rooney" 1925 directed by William Beaudine, written by Mary Pickford, Hope Loring, and Louis D. Lighton for United Artists.

Mary Pickford, William Haines, Walter James, Gordon Griffith, Carlo Schipa, Spec O'Donnell, Hugh Fay, Vola Vale.
In inner-city tenement setting with a blend of Irish, Greek, Chinese, black people all more or less getting along. Mary Pickford was 33 when she made this film, but she was still playing the impish waif whom audiences adored. William Haines is the romantic interest, but it is her film all the way. Colleen Moore had played this type of part before she bobbed her hair and so did Dorothy Gish, with a bit of mischievousness, but it's Pickford whom we think of with the long curls.
