Monolog eines asthmatischen Regenwurms Fred Endrikat Oh, warum hat man mich als Regenwurm geboren, mit keinen Federn, keinen Borsten, keinen Hooren? Ich steck im Dreck, ob's regnet oder stürmt. Ach, wie mich armen Wurm das furchtbar würmt. Die andern Tiere können laufen, schwimmen oder fliegen. Ich muss mit nacktem Bauche auf dem Boden liegen und schiel nach oben, seufz betrübten Blicks: Ich kann bloß husten, weiter kann ich nix. Von kleinen Kindern und den größten Idioten werd ich getrampelt und in den Kot getroten Mir hilft kein Teufel und kein Gott in meinem Weh. Mich schützt kein Paragraph, nicht mal die Heilsarmee. Ich muss mich hüten vor den Hühnern und den Spatzen, denn wenn die kratzen, dann muss ich mein Leben latzen. Ich bin ganz wehrlos, wenn man mich erwischt, ich kann bloß husten, weiter kann ich nischt. So muss ich mich durch dieses Dasein schieben. Oh, warum hat man mich nicht lieber abgetrieben?   1965. Luchtfoto Amsterdam Noord met op de voorgrond het Centraal Station. Tot 1795 was Amsterdam Noord een galgenveld waar veroordeelden na de executie werden opgehangen als afschrikwekkend voorbeeld. Na het ophogen ontstonden de plaatsen Buiksloterham 1850 en Nieuwerdammerham in 1879. Na de opening van het Noordzeekanaal in 1877 kwam de vraag naar zware industrie waarna bedrijven als Shell, Draka, Kromhout, Ketjen en scheepswerven als ADM en NDSM zich vestigden aan de IJ oevers. Tijdens de tweede wereld oorlog waren deze bedrijven het doelwit van bombardementen waarbij veel werd verwoest. In de jaren zestig ontstonden de eerste wijken zoals op het voormalige ADM werf de buurt IJplein. Tot 1957 was Amsterdam Noord alleen middels een veerpont verbonden. Het is zo simpel gezegd: accepteer wat er in je leven gebeurt (innerlijk en uiterlijk), laat je verzet los, laat de controle los en geef je over. Je komt zoveel weerstand in jezelf tegen. Het ego (ik zie het ego als het schijnbaar afgescheiden deel van het goddelijke Zelf) wil zich helemaal niet overgeven aan het Zelf. Het wil helemaal geen acceptatie, maar strijd. Het wil verzet: wat er nu is accepteert het niet (ziekte, pijn, alleenzijn, financiële problemen, negatieve gedachten en emoties) en het wil doorgaans wél wat er nu niet is (het wil gezond zijn, geen pijn hebben, meer geld hebben, een gelukkigere relatie). Meestal beweegt het ego in gedachten weg van het nu, de enige werkelijkheid die er is. Toekomst en verleden zijn slechts gedachten over de realiteit. Nee, het ego wil geen acceptatie en overgave, want dan zou het niet langer bestaan. Dan zou je helemaal je werkelijke Zelf geworden zijn.   Ik ben niet boos als je je telefoon niet opneemt. Ik ben gewoon een moeder — iemand die nooit geleerd heeft om niet ongerust te zijn. Wanneer ik zeg: “Doe een warme jas aan”, is dat geen bemoeienis. Het is de herinnering aan nachten waarop ik naast je bed zat terwijl je koorts had. Wanneer ik je vraag niet te roken of te drinken, is dat geen controle. Het is de stille angst dat ik je te vroeg moet verliezen. Wanneer ik vraag met wie je afspreekt, is dat geen nieuwsgierigheid. Deze kaart vraagt je het verleden loslaten. Door wrok vast te houden blijf je ziiten waar je zit, je houdt het verleden vast. Bevrijd jezelf van het leed uit je verleden en kies voor je vrijheid waardoor je automatisch kiest voor jouw geluk!

The role played by women working on the railways during World War I was vital to the war effort, transporting troops, horses, military equipment, and medical supplies to ports around the country. Women stepped up to fill the shortage that emerged when 100,000 railway workers left to fight in the war. Before the war, roughly 13,000 women worked on the railroad, mainly in domestic positions where they cleaned and washed. By the end of the war, this number had increased fivefold to some 70, 000 women. In 1915, it was decided that at the end of the war, these women would be retained in the service except to the limited extent that it would be warranted to discharge some of them to allow the reinstatement of former employees who enlisted in the army or navy. In general, during WW1, over 1.6 million women worked in traditionally male jobs, with over 100,000 of them working in different forms of transport, especially as engineers.
