Hans and Margret Rey

In 1940, when the Nazis threatened to take over Paris, the Jewish couple Hans and Margret Rey decided to flee. Hans built two bicycles from spare parts and set off on their journey. Among the few things they took with them was a manuscript - the basis for the famous children's book Curious George.

After a dangerous escape, they made it to the United States, where the book was later published and became a timeless classic of children's literature. Their story shows not only their courage and ingenuity, but also how creativity and hope can survive even in dark times.
