Trivia of Rochelle Hudson (6 March 1916 - 17 January 1972)
*She studied dancing, acting, piano, and singing from early age.Rochelle Hudson said that her mother arranged a screen test for her when she was thirteen years old. Within a few years she had minor, uncredited parts, and her first credited appearance as Rochelle Hudson came in 1930 in Fanny Foley Herself after signed a contract with RKO Pictures.
*Hudson appeared more than seventy features, some that remain well regarded films including
'She Done Him Wrong (1933) ' along Mae West & Cary Grant, where she played a naive young woman almost trucked into a life of shame. And film 'Imitation of Life (1934) ' along Claudette Colbert, where she played as Jessie, the daughter of Colbert's character.
*In 1935, Hudson playing role as Mary Blair, the older sister of Elizabeth (Shirley Temple's character) in film Curly Top.This was the first film in which Rochelle Hudson sang a song.Upon its 1935 release, this film was banned in Denmark because of unspecified "controversy." It was also banned in Switzerland and Italy because Elizabeth behavior was setting a bad example for children.
*Hudson abandoned Hollywood for a time after playing Natalie Wood's mother in Rebel Without a Cause (1955) to run a 10,000 acre ranch in Arizona. She later moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma and worked for a petroleum refinery. Missing California, she returned in 1963 and, briefly, restarted her career, but left Hollywood for good in 1967. She moved to Palm Desert where she found success in real estate.
*Her final film mostly was horror genre : Strait-Jacket (1964) co-starring with Joan Crawford and Diane Baker, The Night Walker (1965) co-starring with Robert Taylor and Barbara Stanwyck, Gallery of Horror (1967) co-starring with Lon Chaney Jr.
*In 1972, Hudson was found dead in her home at the Palm Desert Country Club.A business associate with whom she had been working in real estate discovered her body sprawled on the bathroom floor.Hudson died of a heart attack brought on by a liver ailment.
