John Wesley's beech trees

John Wesley's beech trees, Lambeg, Co. Down:

Located at the gateway to Chrome Hill, just beyond Wolfenden's Bridge on the Lambeg-Ballyskeagh road, stand a pair of unique trees.

In the late 18th century, during one of his trips to Ireland, John Wesley, a prominent figure in the founding of Methodism, visited Chrome Hill.

During his stay, he intertwined two beech saplings, intending them as a living emblem of the bond between the Methodist Church and the Church of Ireland. These trees, a testament to Wesley's symbolic gesture, continue to thrive to this day.
