*Using the name Rosebud Blondell, she won the 1926 Miss Dallas pageant and became a finalist in an early version of the Miss Universe pageant in May 1926.She also placed fourth for Miss America 1926.
*Blondell starting her Hollywood career from Penny Arcade on Broadway along James Cagney in 1929.Later, she made six movies with James Cagney at Warner Brothers - more than any other individual actress. Cagney said that the only woman he loved other than his wife was Blondell.
*Studio boss Jack L. Warner once wanted her to change her name to "Inez Holmes", but Blondell refused.
*Blondell be paired with husband Dick Powell in eleven musicals : Big City Blues (1932), Gold Diggers of 1933 (1933), Footlight Parade (1933), Convention City (1933),Dames (1934), Broadway Gondolier (1935) , Colleen (1936), Stage Struck (1936), Gold Diggers of 1937 (1937), I Want a Divorce (1940), Model Wife (1941).
*After divorce with Dick Powell in 1944, she wrote a novel, "Center Door Fancy", which was a very thinly disguised autobiography in which she portrayed her ex-husbands.Dick Powell was represented as being very stingy and vain.
*For film Opposite Sex (1956), Blondell co-starring with June Allyson who became Dick Powell's third wife.She asked her daughter (and Allyson's stepdaughter) Ellen Powell to speak to Allyson about a role in this movie. It was Blondell's return to movies after a five-year absence, and despite the rather difficult history involving their relationship with Dick Powell, all went reasonably smoothly.
*Blondell married producer Mike Todd in 1947. Her marriage to Todd was an emotional and financial disaster that ended in divorce in 1950. She once accused him of holding her outside a hotel window by her ankles. He was also a heavy spender who lost hundreds of thousands of dollars gambling (high-stakes bridge was one of his weaknesses) and went through a controversial bankruptcy during their marriage. An often-repeated myth is that Mike Todd left Blondell for Elizabeth Taylor, when in fact, she had left Todd of her own accord years before he met Taylor.
