LIGHTNING HIT
LIGHTNING HIT… AND A RAINBOW SHOWED UP AT THE SAME TIME
That’s not an edit you expect to see in real life.
This is a rare overlap of conditions: a thunderstorm close enough for lightning, while sunlight breaks through behind you and hits rain still hanging in the air—creating a rainbow. If lightning strikes a tree, the current can superheat moisture inside the wood and cause a flash fire at the trunk or on nearby dry grass.
Moments like this happen in open storm fields—like the Great Plains (USA)—where big thunderstorms roll through and the sun can pop out fast right after the rain.
