Henry II

King Henry II's sons, Henry, Richard, Geoffrey and John mistrusted each other and disputes between them flared up on three occasions.
The sons disagreed with their father's policies and had fallen out with him over them. John, later King John conspired sometimes with and sometimes against his elder brothers. When Henry made an attempt to find an inheritance for John this led to opposition from Richard and Philip II of France and Henry was forced to give way, which, in turn, angered John and forced him to turn against his father, this act is thought to have hastened Henry's death on this day at his castle at Chinon on this day, the 6th July 1189.
