THE EAGLE HAS LANDED
"THE EAGLE HAS LANDED" --- (1976) ---
MY OPINION: Have been watching some Donlad Sutherland movies since his passing the other day. Some of them are a bit too recent to post about in this group, but this one qualifies. He is very good in it and I love that he did this one (quite well) with an Irish accent. I have been watching films from different decades and across various genres. With his body of work, it is possible to do that. I hadn't seen this one before and enjoyed his performance a great deal.
SYNOPSIS: "During World War II, Nazi officer Max Radl devises a plan to kidnap or kill the British prime minister. Approved by German Cmdr. Heinrich Himmler, the scheme moves forward with Col. Kurt Steiner leading the mission, aided by Liam Devlin, an Irishman with a deep hatred of England. As the plan unfolds, it seems to be going well -- until certain events threaten the group's shot at success."
STARRING: Robert Duvall, Donald Pleasence, Donald Sutherland, Michael Cain, Jenny Agutter, Larry Hagman, Treat Williams, Judy Geeson, Jean Marsh, Terence Plummer, John Standing and Michael Byrne.
SCREENPLAY: Tom Mankiewicz; Based on "The Eagle Ahs Landed" by Jack Higgins.
DIRECTOR: John Sturges
