ANGEL ON MY SHOULDER
"ANGEL ON MY SHOULDER" --- (1946) ---
MY THOUGHTS: I really enjoyed this movie. I thought the storyline was different and I liked how it was told. It was very entertaining and at times very funny. The cast was wonderful, and there was something that stood out for me, with one of the cast members in particular. On the fourth day of watching and discussing "fantasy films" of the 1940's, we focused on "Here Comes Mr. Jordan." In that film, Claude Rains plays Mr. Jordan, an "executive angel" in Heaven. In this film, he plays "Nick" (The Devil). It isn't often you get to see an actor play such polar opposites, and of such truly extreme, and well-known, "characters." At several points in the film it struck me how well he did with both and just how "opposite" his representations were. He was truly a marvelous actor, as evidenced not just in these two films, but in his roles throughout his career, but it really stood out for me viewing this movie. I'd be interested in knowing, if it stands out for anyone else on this blog. It is a great film and totally worth the watch!
