ALBERT GORDON MACRAE
(March 12,1921 – January 24,1986)
He was an American actor, singer, and television / radio host. He appeared in the film versions of two Rodgers and Hammerstein musicals, Oklahoma! (1955) and Carousel (1956), and played the leading man opposite Doris Day in On Moonlight Bay (1951) and sequel By The Light of the Silvery Moon (1953). He appeared in eighteen (18) films during his career, between 1948 and 1980. His last film was playing the character Joe Barnes in 1980's The Pilot.
As a singer, he released ten (10) albums under the Capitol Records label.
He was nominated for two (2) Primetime Emmy Awards. In 1956 he won the Golden Laurel Award for Top Male Musical Performance for Oklahoma! and Carousel. In 1960 he received a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 6325 Hollywood Boulevard.
