  The real Ivar the Boneless was even scarier than his ‘Vikings’ character If you’re a fan of Vikings, the History channel’s ridiculously binge-worthy series, then you’re doubtless familiar with the name “Ivar the Boneless.” Just in case you’re not, here’s a little Ivar 101. Ivar the Boneless, aka Ivar Ragnarsson, was an actual historical figure. We know this both from his fame in Old Norse legends, where he was revered as a godlike warrior, and from British sources, which considered him a demon straight outta the depths of hell. The Norse Saga of Ragnar Lodbrok records that Ivar the Boneless was the son of the famed Viking warrior Ragnar Lodbrok and his wife Aslaug. Ivar cashed in on being born as the son of an already legendary father by going on to become one of the fiercest, most feared warriors in Viking history. 0.5 pak witbroodmix 50 g boter 2 el suiker 200 g katenspek 500 g kruidenzuurkool 3 eieren 125 ml zure room 1 tl karwijzaad 1 snufje zout 2 el bloem 250 g tuttifrutti 1 snufje peper 1 quichevorm BEREIDINGSWIJZE Zet in 5 stappen deze heerlijke Hartige zuurkooltaart met tuttifrutti op tafel. Maak het deeg van de boordmix, de boter en 125 ml water volgens de aanwijzingen op de verpakking. Laat het deeg ca. 15 min. rijzen. Verwarm de oven voor tot 200 °C. Kook de tutti frutti met 250 ml water en de suiker ca. 15 min. Giet het daarna af. Bak het spek 5 min. In een koekenpan. Schep de zuurkool erdoor. Klop de eieren los met de zure room, het karwijzaad en zout en peper naar smaak. Bestuif de aanrecht met de bloem en rol het deeg uit tot een ronde lap. Bekleed hiermee de quichevorm. Verdeel vervolgens de helft van zuurkool, de tuttifrutti en rest van de zuurkool over de quicehevorm en schenk het eimengsel erover. Bak de zuurkooltaart in het midden van de oven in ca. 30 min. gaar.

Van origine wordt dit traditionele Italiaanse pastagerecht gemaakt met spek, eieren en Parmezaanse kaas. In dit recept wordt ook nog rucola toegevoegd dat maakt het gerecht net iets pittiger. 15 min bereiden hoofdgerecht 4 personen 518 kcal/pp 300 g penne 1 snufje zout 250 g gerookte spekreepjes 4 grote eierdooiers 100 g Parmezaanse kaas 500 g broccoli 100 ml slagroom 150 g rucola 1 snufje peper BEREIDINGSWIJZE Zet in 4 stappen deze heerlijke Penne carbonara met rucola op tafel. Kook de penne gaar volgens de aanwijzingen op de verpakking. Kook de broccoli in water met zout naar smaak in ca. 8 min. beetgaar. Bak de spekreepjes uit in een koekenpan in het eigen vet. Klop de eidooiers los met slagroom en voeg de helft van de kaas toe. Giet de penne af en schep ze op laag vuur door de spekjes. Voeg het eiermengsel toe en tot slot de rucola. Omscheppen en met peper op smaak brengen. Schep de penne carbonara in diepe borden en bestrooi met kaas. Serveer met de broccoli. Tip! Heb je nog wat g...

   By the time that Henry VIII's carpenters began working on the huge timber roof of the Great Hall at Hampton Court Palace in 1533, the King had divorced his first wife Katharine of Aragon and had moved on to wife number two, Anne Boleyn.  To celebrate Henry and Anne's marriage, the carpenters added Anne's coat-of-arms to the roof. Carved entwined letters of H & A were added to the wooden screen at the end of the Great Hall. Also featured in the roof is Anne's falcon badge, and the initials AR for Anna Regina.  Henry VIII chose the nostalgic hammerbeam style to evoke the great halls of his medieval predecessors. Henry was attracted by tales of their chivalric deeds, and modelled himself and his palace on them. 'Eavesdroppers' - carved and painted heads - decorate the roof of the Great Hall.   Elizabeth Amadas She may have been one of Henry’s VIII mistresses between his relationships with Mary and Anne Boleyn. She was arrested for treason in 1532 claiming to be the King’s mistress and describing Anne Boleyn as a harlot who should be burnt . She also said that Henry, by setting aside Catherine of Aragon for a younger woman, was encouraging the men of England to do the same .. ....Elizabeth’s husband had recently left her, too.... She described herself as a witch and a prophetess. She was released, but she got into debt and never recovered her position at Court. She also claimed that Henry VIII had asked her many times to join her at the house of William Compton ( the man borrowed his house for the king's private time with his mistresses, basically a love nest ) .
