Rope

"Rope" is a 1948 American psychological thriller film directed by Alfred Hitchcock. It is based on the 1929 play of the same name by Patrick Hamilton, which was inspired by the real-life case of Leopold and Loeb. The film stars James Stewart, John Dall, and Farley Granger.

The story follows two wealthy and intellectually arrogant young men, Brandon Shaw (John Dall) and Phillip Morgan (Farley Granger), who strangle a former classmate, David Kentley, just for the thrill of committing the perfect murder. They then hold a dinner party in their apartment, serving food from a chest containing the hidden corpse. As the evening progresses, their former mentor, Rupert Cadell (James Stewart), begins to suspect that something is amiss.

"Rope" is notable for its unique filming technique, as Hitchcock attempted to create the illusion of a single continuous take by using long, uninterrupted shots and carefully hidden cuts. The film unfolds in real-time, heightening the tension and suspense as the characters' dark secrets are gradually revealed.

"Rope" is now regarded as one of Hitchcock's most innovative and daring films. Its groundbreaking cinematography and tense psychological drama have earned it a place as a classic of both the thriller genre and cinematic history
