There are nights when the world feels heavy
There are nights when the world feels heavy—
when memories sit like stones on my chest, when silence presses into the corners
and everything familiar feels just a little too far away.
Those are the nights I wish
for one more breath of yours,
one more warm weight against my legs,
one more look that told me
I was loved without needing words.
But even here,
in the darkness you once filled with life,
I’ve learned that love doesn’t go out
when a heartbeat does.
It changes.
It becomes something quieter.
Something that glows instead of shines.
Something that wraps around my sorrow
like a blanket I never asked for,
but wake grateful for,
every time the night settles in.
I feel you in that glow—
soft as breath,
gentle as moonlight,
steady as the bond we built with laughter and fur.
When grief arrives like a shadow,
I sit still and wait.
And slowly—so slowly—
the shadow warms.
Light pushes through it.
Love remembers how to move.
Not loud.
Not bright.
But present.
You are the glow in my darkest rooms,
the warmth that rises when I speak your name,
the invisible softness that brushes my heart
when I least expect it.
Love didn’t end when you left.
It simply learned to shine differently—
through memory instead of touch,
through presence instead of paws.
And some nights,
when I reach into the dark
looking for the shape of you,
I don’t find emptiness.
I find light.
Love glows in the dark.
You taught me that.
You still do.
I’ll follow that glow
for as long as it leads me—
until the day the dark breaks open
and I find you waiting in the brightness again.
Not gone.
Never gone.
Just shining in a different place
until I can hold you once more.
