Variety
"Variety" (Varieté) is a German silent film directed by E.A. Dupont and released in 1925. This film is renowned for its innovative camera work, particularly its pioneering use of the crane shot, which allows for dynamic and fluid cinematography.
The story of "Variety" revolves around Boss Huller, a former trapeze artist who with his wife own a cheap side-show. But he longs for his former glamorous life in the circus. When he meets the orphan Berta-Marie, he falls under her spell and insists that the family take as a new sideshow dancer. He makes Berta-Marie his partner in a new trapeze number. The handsome and charismatic trapeze artist Artinelli takes note of them. Tensions arise as Artinelli begins an affair with Berta-Marie leading to jealousy and betrayal.
