Jimmy Aubrey
Jimmy Aubrey (October 23, 1887– September 2, 1983)
Aubrey was an English actor who worked with both Charlie Chaplin and Laurel and Hardy, having gone with Fred Karno's theatrical company to America in 1908. However he left to start on his own in vaudeville. An early understudy of Charlie Chaplin, he later achieved leading status during the silents era (Oliver Hardy once providing support). Following his career decline as a starring performer, he was initially given work by Laurel & Hardy, before embarking on a career as a bit-part player in over 300 features. When sound arrived, he was able to adapt to the new medium. He became a familiar face in dozens of B westerns of the 1930s and 1940s. Aubrey died at age 95 on September 2, 1983, and is buried at San Fernando Mission Cemetery in Mission Hills, California.
