I didn’t know

I didn’t know pregnancy and postpartum carpal tunnel was even a thing.

No one warned me that my hands could go numb in the middle of the night.
That I could wake up and not feel my fingers.
That opening a jar, buckling a car seat, or even holding my baby could suddenly hurt.

Apparently it’s common.

During pregnancy, your body holds onto extra fluid. That swelling can put pressure on the median nerve in your wrist, which leads to tingling, numbness, weakness, even sharp pain. And postpartum, between hormone shifts and constantly holding, feeding, rocking, and lifting a baby, it can stick around longer than you expect.

It’s not you being dramatic.
It’s not you being weak.
It’s not “just tired hands.”

It’s your body doing the most.

If your wrists ache.
If your fingers tingle.
If you’re shaking your hands out at 3 a.m. while feeding your baby.

You’re not crazy.
You’re not alone.
And it doesn’t mean you’re failing at motherhood.

Sometimes motherhood shows up in ways no one talks about.
And this is one of them.

If you’ve dealt with this, tell another mama she’s not imagining it.
