DARK VICTORY
"DARK VICTORY" (1939)
MY THOUGHTS: There is a reason why this is one of Bette Davis's better known, and much revered, films. Everything about it is truly top-notch ... the writing is wonderful, the cast was well-selected (with some heavy hitters on board) and everyone, most especially Ms. Davis, turn in an excellent performance. The cinematography enhances the story-telling and the costumes reflect on the outside what the characters are going through on the inside. It is as "complete" an offering as you can ask for. From the first frame to the last, it is a well told tale of loneliness, love, courage and loss. It gets me every time, and I'm here for it.
