Elizabeth Taylor

 Snapshot in Time: Candid of Elizabeth Taylor on the set of Raintree County. This production was troubled and Elizabeth was going through personal turmoil at the time. Her marriage to British actor Michael Wilding, with whom she had two sons, was on the rocks, and her beloved costar and friend, Montgomery Clift, was struggling with substance abuse and depression. He would soon be horribly disfigured in an automobile accident, leaving Taylor’s home after a party. Taylor was instrumental in helping to save his life by running down the hill to the scene of the accident and extracting two teeth from Clift’s throat with her fingers that were blocking his airway. This photo captures a spontaneous moment, Taylor smiling and mussing her hair, unconcerned about her appearance or her image, breathtaking in it’s simplicity. She seems carefree and unburdened, a trick of the camera, sadly.
