The Duke

April 5, 1979, The Duke premiered on NBC and later concluded its run on May 18, 1979.

The miniseries starred Robert Conrad as Oscar “Duke” Ramsey, an aging boxer who becomes a private investigator in Chicago. Conrad brought a physically grounded performance to the role, reflecting his earlier athletic background.

The series also featured Larry Manetti as Joe Cadillac, Red West as Sgt. Mick O’Brien, and Patricia Conwell as Dedra, along with Ed O'Bradovich as Eddie, a bartender at Duke’s tavern.

Created and executive produced by Stephen J. Cannell through Stephen J. Cannell Productions in association with Universal Television, the series blended crime drama with character-driven storytelling typical of late-1970s network television.
