They don’t talk about this part enough
They don’t talk about this part enough.
Not the cute baby clothes, not the dreamy snuggles. The other part.
The part where your body feels like it’s been hit by a truck.
The part where your emotions swing harder than a pendulum.
The part where you look in the mirror and barely recognize yourself.
Postpartum is not just a physical recovery it’s also mental, emotional and spiritual.
It’s mourning who you were, while trying to figure out who you are now.
It’s feeling so in love with your baby, but also wondering why you feel so alone.
Some days, I didn’t shower.
Some nights, I cried while rocking my baby, wondering if I was strong enough to do this.
And yes of course there were moments of pure joy too. But it wasn’t all rainbows and baby giggles and it’s okay to talk about it.
To every mama out there deep in the postpartum fog:
You are not broken.
You are not weak.
You are healing in every sense of the word.
Be gentle with yourself.
Ignore the bounce-back culture.
Feed your soul, not just your baby.
You are doing better than you think.
And no, you’re not alone.
