Magdalene of Brandenburg

May 4, 1616: Magdalene of Brandenburg, Landgravine of Hesse-Darmstadt, died at age thirty-four. The daughter of John George, Elector of Brandenburg, and his third wife Elisabeth of Anhalt-Zerbst, she married Landgrave Ludwig V of Hesse-Darmstadt, and they had twelve children, of whom nine lived to adulthood.
