Eugene O'Brien


 Eugene O'Brien, November 14, 1880, Boulder, CO - April 29, 1966, Los Angeles, CA. He studied medicine and civil engineering before setting to New York to pursue acting. Impresario Charles Frohman signed him to a three-year" contract assigning him to appear "The Rollicking Girl" 1905, "The Builder of Bridges" 1909, and he made his star name by being cast opposite Ethel Barrymore in "Trelawny of the Wells" 1911 at the Empire Theater.

World Film Corp chief, Lewis J. Selznick made O'Brien a film star by casting him in Essanays "The Lieutenant Governor" in 1915 and in an adaptation of Wilkie Collins' "The Moonstone". He became a matinee idol, and he was co-starring with Mary Pickford, Norma Talmadge, and Gloria Swanson. He quit acting at age 47 in 1928.
