GIANT Kapok Tree

GIANT Kapok Tree! Ceiba pentandra. Native to the region that stretches from Mexico to the north of South America. Also known as mafumeira, in Brazil, it occurs in the floodplain forest of the Amazon, Considered sacred by the ancient Mayan people and many indigenous peoples of Brazil, its canopy protects above all other trees, providing shelter and protection for other species of flora and countless birds and insects. Its roots are capable of absorbing water from deep within the Amazon soil, hydrating not only the tree itself, but also other trees of different species.
At specific times, when the roots reach a certain level of humidity, the tree releases this excess and irrigates its entire surrounding area.
