Arthur W. Ferguson


 Arthur W. Ferguson (April 18, 1944 – February 19, 2016)

Ferguson was known professionally as Charlie Tuna. He began his career working in Oklahoma City in 1966, using the name Charlie Tuna. After a stint in Boston, he moved to Los Angeles in late 1967, appearing on several local radio stations, before becoming a morning DJ and program manager at KKDJ, which later became KIIS-FM, one of the highest rated radio stations on the west coast. He worked a series of other stations, then hosted the 'Charlie Tuna in the Morning' program on KBIG until 2007, before moving to K-Earth 101, where he stayed until 2015, when he focused on a syndication business. For more than two decades, he appeared on Armed Forces Radio. On television, he served as an announcer on such shows as 'Scrabble', 'The Mike Douglas Show' and 'America's Top 10' with Casey Kasem, for whom he occasionally filled-in for. In 1990, he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, was voted one of the Top 10 L.A. radio personalities of all time in 1997, was inducted into the Nebraska Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame in 1999, and was named to the National Radio Hall of fame in 2008. He was married, and had four children. He died in his sleep on February 19, 2016 at his home, aged 71, and buried at Forest Lawn-Glendale.
