"THE HILL" (1965)
SYNOPSIS: "Five British soldiers are sent to a detention camp in the Libyan Desert, including Sergeant Major Roberts, whose conviction for the assault of an officer is shrouded in mystery. As punishment, the vicious Staff Sergeant Williams orders the prisoners to continuously climb a man-made hill in the scorching desert heat. Though his colleague, Staff Sergeant Harris, sympathizes with the new detainees, he can only watch as Williams goes to sadistic extremes."
STARRING: Sean Connery, Harry Andrews, Ian Hendry, Alfred Lynch, Michael Redgrave, Ian Bannen, Ossie Davis. Roy Kinnear, Neil McCarthy, Jack Watson and Richard Easton.

The film screened at the 1965 Cannes Film Festival and won "Best Screenplay (Ray Rigby)".
In 1965 the American National Board of Review voted Harry Andrews "Best Supporting Actor", and the Writers' Guild of Great Britain "Best British Dramatic Screenplay" winner was Ray Rigby.
The film was recognized in several categories in the 1966 BAFTA Awards:
