Hornblower


Hornblower, is a British television drama series which ran from 1998 - 2003,
based on the novels by C.S Forester about the fictional character Horatio Hornblower, a Royal Navy officer during the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars.
Filming locations included the Black Sea, the Livadia Palace, Portugal, Cornwall, Oxfordshire,
Devon, London and the former administration Melville building of the Royal William Yard and the Barbican, Plymouth, England
Directed by Andrew Grieve. Starring
Ioan Gruffudd, Robert Lindsey, Paul McGann, Paul Copley, Sean Gilder and Jaime Bamber.
"Midshipman Horatio Hornblower joins the British fleet just as the French Revolution is about to change European history. But he has worries closer to home as he incurs the wrath of a shipmate named Simpson, a bully who everyone else avoids and placates. Events lead to a duel, but one of Hornblower's mates takes his place and is killed. At war with France, Hornblower and Simpson are assigned different ships, but are reunited when Simpson's ship is sunk. Events lead to another duel with different results".
