Eva Moote was born in Brighton, East Sussex, England in 1870 and she died in Maidenhead, Berkshire, England in 1955. Moore was a prominent stage actress from 1887 and a suffragette. She's the older sister of actress Decima Moore and she taught dancing to Winston Churchill. She was married to writer and actor H.V. Esmond and their children were auto racer Jack Esmond and actress Jill Esmond, Laurence Olivier's first wife. Therefore, Moore was grandmother to producer Tarquin Olivier. She was in 29 films between 1920 and 1946, mostly in the 1930s, nd she is best remembered for her portrayal of Rebecca Femm in James Whale's 1932 hit, "The Old Dark House" starring Boris Karloff, Gloria Stuart, Raymond Massey, Charles Laughton, Lilian Bond, Ernest Thesiger, Elspeth Dudgeon, and Brember Wills.
