The 68th Academy Awards ceremony
The 68th Academy Awards ceremony, organized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), honored the best films of 1995 in the United States and took place on March 25, 1996, at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles.
"Braveheart" won Best Picture over "Apollo 13", "Babe", "Il Postino: The Postman", "Sense and Sensibility".
Nicholas Cage won Best Actor for "Leaving Las Vegas" over Richard Dreyfuss "Mr. Holland's Opus", Anthony Hopkins "Nixon", Sean Penn "Dead Man Walking", Massimo Troisi "Il Postino: The Postman".
Susan Sarandon won Best Actress for "Dead Man Walking" over Elizabeth Shue "Leaving Las Vegas", Sharon Stone "Casino", Meryl Streep "The Bridges of Madison County", Emma Thompson "Sense and Sensibility".
Kevin Spacey won Best Supporting Actor for "The Usual Suspects" over James Cromwell "Babe", Ed Harris "Apollo 13", Brad Pitt "12 Monkeys", Tim Roth "Rob Roy".
Mira Sorvino won Best Supporting Actress for "Mighty Aphrodite" over Joan Allen "Nixon", Kathleen Quinlan "Apollo 13", Mare Winningham "Georgia", Kate Winslet "Sense and Sensibility".
