The 62nd Academy Awards ceremony


 The 62nd Academy Awards ceremony, presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), honored the best films of 1989 and took place on March 26, 1990, at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles.

"Driving Miss Daisy" won Best Picture over "Born on the Fourth of July", "Dead Poets Society", "Field of Dreams", "My Left Foot".
Oliver Stone won Best Director for "Born on the Fourth of July" over Woody Allen "Crimes and Misdemeanors", Peter Weir "Dead Poets Society", Kenneth Branaugh "Henry V", Jim Sheridan "My Left Foot".
Daniel Day-Lewis won Best Actor for "My Left Foot", over Kenneth Branaugh "Henry V", Tom Cruise "Born on the Fourth of July", Robin Williams "Dead Poets Society", Morgan Freeman "Driving Miss Daisy".
Jessica Tandy won Best Actress for "Driving Miss Daisy" over Isabelle Adjani "Camille Claudel", Pauline Collins "Shirley Valentine", Jessica Lange "Music Box", Michelle Pfeiffer "The Fabulous Baker Boys".
Denzel Washington won Best Supporting Actor for "Glory" over Danny Aiello "Do the Right Thing", Dan Aykroyd "Driving Miss Daisy", Marlon Brando "A Dry White Season", Martin Landau "Crimes and Misdemeanors".
Brenda Fricker won Best Supporting Actress for My Left Foot" over Anjelica Huston "Enemies, A Love Story", Lena Olin "Enemies, A Love Story", Julia Roberts "Steel Magnolias", Dianne Wiest "Parenthood".
