Marie and Floy Hayton

Marie and Floy Hayton are pictured in the graduation dresses made for them by their mother, Mary Elizabeth Hayton. The dresses were made from pink and lavender voile, a different color for each. The young women graduated in 1922 from Chehalis High School. The girls went to Normal School in Bellingham and came back to this area to teach in one-room school houses. The young women lived on the Surprise Valley Dairy at what is now the Nix Farm in Chehalis.
