The Black Cat

"The Black Cat" is a horror film released in 1934, directed by Edgar G. Ulmer and starring Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi.

The film tells the story of a young couple who find themselves stranded at the eerie mansion of a satanic cult led by Karloff's character, Hjalmar Poelzig. Lugosi plays a psychiatrist seeking revenge on Poelzig for stealing his wife and daughter and for his involvement in World War I atrocities.

The film is notable for its atmospheric cinematography, expressionistic set design, and the dynamic performances of its two horror icons. Despite sharing a title with Poe's story, the film deviates significantly from its source material. "The Black Cat" is considered a classic of early horror cinema.
