Dr. Seuss

The childhood home of Theodor Seuss Geisel (Dr. Seuss) on Fairfield Street in Springfield, Massachusetts, around 1938-39 and 2023. He lived here from 1906 until the 1920s, but the house was still owned by his family when the first photo was taken. At the time, his father Theodor was still living here, as was his sister Margaretha. Ironically, while Dr. Seuss never actually earned a doctorate degree, his sister did; she received her PhD in German from Radcliffe College.
Today, the house is still standing as one of the many historic early 20th century homes in Springfield’s Forest Park neighborhood, and it is now owned by the Springfield Museums.
