Château des Rochers-Sévigné
Château des Rochers-Sévigné, owned by the Sévigné family since 1410, the place where the widowed Marquise (real name Marie de Rabutin-Chantal) wrote her famous letters to her daughter between 1671-1696. Built in the XV century and modified in the XVII century, the castle consists of two square wings. It is still privately owned today, but can be visited partially in an organized group, with a guide (the Chapel of 1671 and rooms from the medieval tower, including the Green Cabinet where objects of the Marquise de Sévigné are still kept). Photography is forbidden indoors, but visiting the Orangery and the French Gardens is free.
