Recovering from birth after a natural delivery

Recovering from birth after a natural delivery, when you’ve had a medicated one before, is honestly shocking.

I was bracing myself for the fog.
The heaviness.
That slow crawl back into my body.

Instead I felt clear headed. Present. Grounded.
I was up. Walking. Showered. Holding my baby without that distant, floaty feeling.

Yes, birth is still intense. Yes, there is still soreness and healing.
But the difference in recovery caught me off guard.

Less disorientation.
Less lingering discomfort.
More connection to my body and my baby almost immediately.

This isn’t a dig at medicated births. Every birth is valid and necessary for different reasons.
But if you’ve experienced both, you know. The contrast is real.

Your body remembers.
And sometimes it surprises you with how capable it actually is.
