Laura Ingalls Wilder
Later in life, Laura Ingalls Wilder lived a peaceful, quiet life — just the way she liked it. After all the challenges she faced growing up, she and Almanzo settled down on their farm in Mansfield, Missouri, which they called Rocky Ridge Farm. That’s where she spent the rest of her years.
What’s really amazing is that Laura didn’t even start writing her Little House books until she was in her 60s! It was her daughter, Rose, who encouraged her to write down all those childhood memories. And even though some parts were changed a little for storytelling, the heart of the books came straight from Laura’s real life.
Even after she became a famous author, Laura stayed humble. She loved working on the farm, gardening, taking care of animals, and just enjoying the simple things. She still lived the same values she wrote about — hard work, family, and kindness.
She passed away in 1957 at 90 years old, having lived a full and meaningful life. And even though she’s gone, her stories continue to inspire people all over the world. Through her books, Laura is still teaching us how to live with courage, love, and gratitude.
