*The forceps used during Sinatra’s birth caused severe scarring to his left cheek, neck and ear that ran from the corner of his mouth to his jawline, which was exacerbated by cystic acne as an adolescent, thus earning him the nickname “Scarface.” As an adult, Sinatra wore makeup to hide the scars, but he still reportedly hated being photographed on his left side.
*Darwin Porter, the author of Sinatra’s biography, claims that Sinatra had starred in one of the porn movies called ‘The Masked Bandit‘ in 1934 when he went broke.Though he faced many hardships, he’s had various awards entitled to his name. He got several awards in singing and acting including 4 Golden Globe Awards, 11-times Grammy Award and an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for the movie ‘From Here To Eternity'.
*While Sinatra never formally learned how to read music, he had a natural, intuitive understanding of it, and he worked very hard from a young age to improve his abilities in all aspects of music. A perfectionist, renowned for his impeccable dress sense and cleanliness, he always insisted on recording live with his band.
*Had a longstanding dislike of Marlon Brando from the time they starred in Guys and Dolls (1955). Sinatra always felt he should have played Brando's part, with Gene Kelly in the other role. Sinatra nicknamed Brando "Mr. Mumbles" while Brando called him "Mr. Baldy".
*By the early 1950s, Sinatra’s star had fallen hard. Feeling washed up, he reportedly put his head on the stove in his New York City apartment and turned on the gas. His manager later found him lying on the floor, sobbing.Later on, his rocky relationship with actress Ava Gardner apparently upset him so much that he made three suicide attempts while he was still with her, including on one occasion when he walked into their bedroom holding a gun to his head. A scuffle ensued where Gardner struggled to take the weapon from him, firing the gun, but the bullet missed them both.
*He had entertainer group in Hollywood.After his professional career had stalled by the early 1950s, Sinatra turned to Las Vegas where he became one of the scene’s prominent pioneer performers and the eventual leader of the Rat Pack, after the death of its original leader Humphrey Bogart. The group, rounded out by members Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Peter Lawford and Joey Bishop, ruled the Las Vegas scene and performed on stage and in films of the early 1960s, including Ocean’s 11, Sergeants 3 and Robin and the 7 Hoods.The Rat Pack, which was the name only used by the media, was coined by actress Lauren Bacall, and Sinatra reportedly always hated it. Instead, they initially referred to themselves as “the Clan” or “the Summit.”
*He convinced the Rat Pack to help campaign for John F. Kennedy’s 1960 Presidential Election, and was in charge of the entertainment for the Inaugural Ball, in which he enlisted the talents of many of Hollywood’s top celebrities for the occasion.Two weeks after President Kennedy’s assassination, Sinatra’s son, Frank Sinatra Jr. was kidnapped.Frank was told to call the perpetrators from pay phones. During one call, he ran out of dimes, and was afraid that this had cost him his son’s life. He paid the $250,000.00 ransom, his son was returned, and the kidnappers were promptly caught. From that day forward, he always carried a roll of dimes with him till he took to his grave.
