 DID AUNT PITTY SEE THROUGH SCARLETT BETTER THAN MELANIE DID?

Aunt Pittypat may have been nervous, sheltered and almost childlike—but every once in a while, did she see something in Scarlett that Melanie didn’t?

At the Atlanta bazaar, Aunt Pitty is beside herself over Scarlett appearing in public while still in mourning.

Melanie immediately comes to Scarlett’s defense. She insists Scarlett is only there to help raise money for the Cause and says anyone listening to Aunt Pitty would think Scarlett had come there to dance.

And then the camera gives us the joke…

Scarlett’s feet are tapping away underneath her widow’s dress.

Melanie always wanted to believe the very best of Scarlett. Aunt Pitty, despite all her fluttering and fainting, occasionally seemed a little more suspicious of her behavior.
