 Trivia of Virginia Grey (22 March 1917 - 31 July 2004)

*Daughter of American film actor Rey Grey. One of her early babysitters was film star Gloria Swanson.
*She debuted at the age of 10 in the silent film Uncle Tom's Cabin (1927) as Little Eva.She continued acting for a few more years, but then left acting for three years to finish her education as a nurse.
*Was close friends with Lana Turner and the two actresses appeared in a total of six films together : Rich Man, Poor Girl (1938), Dramatic School (1938), Portrait in Black (1960), Bachelor in Paradise (1962), Love Has Many Faces (1965), and Madame X (1966).
*Grey portrayed Blanche Bickerson on the syndicated comedy TV series The Bickersons.Series of radio and television comedy sketches which began in 1946 on NBC radio.
*Grey had an intermittent love affair with Clark Gable in the 1940s. After Gable's wife Carole Lombard died and he returned from military service, Gable and Grey were often seen at restaurants and nightclubs together. Many, including Grey herself, expected Gable to marry her, and tabloids often speculated on a wedding announcement. It was a great surprise when Gable hastily married Lady Sylvia Ashley in 1949, leaving Grey heartbroken. Gable divorced Ashley in 1952, and he never rekindled his romance with Grey, who never married.
*Several days after Gable marriage had been announced, Virginia Grey started dating one of Gable's close friend, Robert Taylor.During date, Taylor didn't want to their relationship seen by public.Taylor also often left Grey sudden and never mentioned the incident later. She found him strange and unpredictable, opted to never date him again.Five years after dated Robert Taylor, during filming Crime of Passion (1957), she accidentally put coat on (Robert Taylor's ex wife) Barbara Stanwyck's chair and she tore into Grey with a vengeance in front of everyone. Stanwyck never mentioned Taylor, but she resented Grey for going out with him.
*In HBO’s The Pacific (2010), actress Anna Torv makes a brief appearance as Virginia Grey.She portrayed Virginia who participation in WWII bond drives and developed a close relationship with John Basilone, a US Marine Medal of Honor winner who was later killed on Iwo Jima.
